It’s Easy to Organize Clutter

If you do not know how to organize the clutter that is surrounding you but you are someone who wants to have a clean and organized home then clutter can be a stumbling.  Often when a house becomes too cluttered it is really difficult to dust or vacuum because it takes so much time in trying to de-clutter to be able to actually clean. What usually happens is that you are too tired to finish cleaning once you get all the clutter organized and out of the way. But the good news is there are things you can do to control and organize clutter BEFORE it becomes overwhelming.

What clutter people’s homes the most is the piles of papers they have all over. Newspapers, mail, work papers, and the children’s school work easily become piles of paper around the house. There are a few ways you can organize yourself in order to avoid these stacks of paper cluttering up your home.

What do you do with the mail. Throw away the junk mail immediately each day when the mail comes and then go through it right away so it doesn’t pile up. The junk mail gets thrown in the trash before going back into the house for some people. Next put the bills that need to be paid in a “to do” file. Some people create a space near the phone or computer desk to put a basket for all their to do papers or they have a drawer in the desk to put them in file folders. And finally put all other papers away immediately where they should go so that you don’t continue to leave them stacked on the counter to do it later. It soon becomes clutter because LATER never seems to come.

If you need to bring home work papers then you can use to same principle as mail with those papers. File all your “to do’s” in one spot (not on the counter) and file away your important papers.

Some people put a recycle bin under their kitchen sink or counter beside their trash can so they can place their newspaper in the proper bin after reading. After you read the paper then all you ahve to do is put it in the right bin. Then at the same time you can take out the garbage and the recyclable newspaper bins.

It is so easy for proud parents to get caught up in keeping every piece of paper their child brings homes from school. That could become a large stack of papers lying around cluttering up the house. It is a challenging to try to get rid of the clutter when you want to keep all your child’s school papers for a memory book.If you have a closet and cabinet where you can put a box or storage container then this dilemma can be solved quite easily. Then you can go through the paperwork and decide which to keep and place them in the box instead of in a pile. Instead of storing the large artwork and science projects you could take pictures of them and then throw them away. In the basement or attic or even under a bed you can keep a large container that you can transfer papers from the closet bos to this more permanent place. This way you can organize clutter and still keep those precious memories that you and your child can look through and remember one day.

In your quest to organize clutter that aren’t papers around your house you must get in the habit of asking yourself “Is this an item that I will use again?Honesty is a MUST.If you have not used or needed an item for more than a year then you most likely do not need to keep it so get rid of it!You might consider giving your unused or unneeded articles to charity or you could have a garage sale to get fid of them. Sometimes one holds onto to objects not knowing if they will use it in the future but you should just store those for six months and then get rid of them if you haven’t used or needed them.

For your seasonal items purchase some large storage containers that can be stacked on top of each other and put them in an attic, basement, or garage. On your storage bins be sure to mark what they hold so you will always know what’s in it. It can be very frustrating to hunt for the decorations you need by opening up EVERY bin. By marking them you will be able to locate what you are looking for more easily because you will always know what each container has stored in it. Do not keep items that are either broken, stained, or damaged instead throw them out.

It may take some time to organize clutter around your house at first, but once you have set up a system and routine it will so easy to keep up the things that come into your home. Now you have a clutter-free environment so enjoy!

Welcome back!
