Starting Successful Greenhouse Growing

Very few people get perfect weather so many people think adding a greenhouse to your garden is the perfect gardening facility for the serious gardening enthusiast. With the addition of a greenhouse you can means you can set the conditions of warmth and humidity to grow your plants and vegetables.

There are a lot of vegetables and flowers that can be grown inside a greenhouse when they would not grow outside due to weather and climate conditions. As a responsible greenhouse owner everything you grow in it will be completely under your control so you must remember to water them and protect them every day.

When plants grow in a greenhouse there are no variables as you are in total control of temperature and humidity and flowers and vegetables in your greenhouse are your success of disappontment. One of the rewarding features of greenhouse gardening comes from the feeling that you are in charge and if things go well or go badly you must accept the praise or the blame.

When you own a greenhouse there are many flowers and vegetables you can grow by sowing seeds in seedtrays or pots right through to full grown plants and the feelings of satisfaction can be immense. There are more styles of greenhouse than you might think and choosing can be confusing but any type of greenhouse will be helpful if you have plans to grow plants out of season.

Some greenhouses are still standing after hundreds of years and enable you to get real value for money from the investment but if you need to save cash a cheaper plastic greenhouse may do the job for a few years. The geodesic dome shape greenhouse is my top favorite design partly because they look so stylish but also because they allow a lot of light into the greenhouse and also allows you a lot of space for planting.

The type of greenhouse we are most familiar with will be the oblong shaped box and these might also be subdivided and have a low brick or timber wall with glass above. The alignment of oblong greenhouses will usually be set according to the direction where the sun rises though sometimes you will have too much sun so local conditions must decide.

In general you want maximum light to enter your greenhouse but you need to be aware that stong sunlight may damage plants in some conditions and you will be well advised to get a local expert opinion on greenhouse siting. There are new developments and though traditional greenhouse was always made using glass some new materials are available that may not be subject to breakage and wind damage.

The old style glass greenhouse systems have been around for generations and the cheaper alternatives may not be around so long and the reduction in cost may mean we can afford to start greenhouse growing our favorite plants.
