It has a stainless steel construction. The grater is calibrated in 1/2-cup gradations, has a lid for storage, and is dishwasher, microwave, and freezer safe. The price is right. My mom bought me the Kitchenaid Box Grater handheld zester a few years back. This versatile kitchen utensil is good. Now the first positive that I found about using the KitchenAid Box Grater is that the item works exactly as it is described.
A slimmer, super-fine grating surface is just right for nutmeg and ginger, and the slicing surface yields perfect slices of cucumber, zucchini, cheese and more. When my sister visited me home during last vacation she was so captivated by this that, finally I had to part with my grater. It has completely replaced my cheese shredder and this grates the Mozzarella and Parmesan with breathtaking speed and of desired size. This is basically the traditional rotary cheese grater that you find in the traditional household and still in the restaurants. May be it is not wise to use this for grating large amount of stuff for a feast but this is more than enough for everyday household use.
Grater is dishwasher safe. These stainless steel graters make shredding cheese a breeze, not to mention grating vegetables and nuts. This item works great. It is tin plated. It features four functional grating surfaces without taking up a lot of space in your drawer. It has ergonomic design and a soft grip handle.
This is my pet cooking tool and I use it almost everyday and this is still in good condition. The fine blade zests citrus, grates hard cheeses, nuts, and garlic. This is an outstanding grater that shreds cheese amazingly.
